Nestled in the heart of Yunnan, Lijiang stands as an internationally renowned tourist city, boasting a rich history and cultural heritage. But Lijiang is more than just a beautiful destination; it's a doorway to an adventure like no other. As an important crossroads of the ancient "Southern Silk Road" and "Ancient Tea-Horse Road," it bears the weight of centuries of tradition and cultural significance. It is also the only prefecture-level city in China with the distinct honor of holding three world heritage sites simultaneously. This city is not merely a place to visit; it's an immersive experience, and when it comes to school trips in China that emphasize experiential learning, Yunnan Adventure begins right here.
Liguang village, nestled within the embrace of Yunnan, emerges as the perfect setting for students to explore the rich tapestry of ethnic groups in this region through first-hand experiences. When students participate in the ICCA-Yunnan program, they're not just visiting; they're actively engaging in the preservation of the environment and traditional culture. The lush landscapes and vibrant traditions of this village become their classroom, where they learn to protect, respect, and appreciate what makes Yunnan truly special.
In Yunnan, it's not about being a passive observer; it's about becoming an active participant in the lives of the locals. Students are encouraged to experience daily life in the village and actively take part in the various programs designed for its protection. This hands-on approach fosters a deeper understanding of the region's culture, environment, and the delicate balance that connects them.

ICCA
The ICCA peer-review process in China.
Liguang Community Conserved Area was one of the first ICCAs in China to go through a locally-defined peer-review process in support of its registration with the ICCA Registry. Through this mechanism, indigenous peoples and local communities support each other's processes of self-determination, helping to build a robust and accurate global registry of ICCAs.
Bee keeping
As experts in outdoor education, Peninsula Outdoor School is concerned about environmental change around the world. We realize that human impact is causing serious species loss, and we want to turn the destructive power of humans into action to care for the environment. We work with the concept of sustainable development goals (SDGs) to create a better ecological environment. Now, we will first launch the beekeeping program in southern China.
Danxia landform
The Danxia landscape is characterized by spectacular red cliffs and a series of eroded landforms, including dramatic natural columns, towers, canyons, valleys and waterfalls. Students are able to see unique topographical features they have never seen before and increase their geographic knowledge as they hike.
Traditional Lisu Culture
For hundreds of years, the Lisu lived highly communal lives, having separated themselves into 58 clans, each with its own name. Clan names were typically based on an animal or a plant, which also served as the clan’s totem in accordance with their native animistic beliefs. Though the clans all lived in the same region, they had few economic ties with one another. In fact, they only interacted with one another when an alliance against an outside force needed to be made.
